New Homes

The way in which houses are built has changed significantly over the years. Today new properties must conform to a variety of building regulations to ensure that they’re safe and suited to the area in which they’re built. However there are is an increasingly extensive list of government requirements concerning environmental performance too.

Energy efficiency is something is taken into serious consideration during the planning stages of new constructions. The design and layout of the building can have a significant effect on factors such as the heat retention, which of course effects energy consumption, and homes will be designed to make them as efficient as possible.

Renewable energy sources will also be installed to the properties to help cut the future inhabitants’ power consumption Solar panels are amongst some of the most frequently used renewable energy resources as they’re cheap, relatively easy to install and yield a good result. Photovoltaic solar panels that generate electricity can be used as well as panels used to heat hot water.

With careful planning and ingenuity new homes can be extremely energy efficient. Simple features such as loft and cavity insulation can make a significant difference as can using energy efficient appliances.

In the coming years as the state of our environment worsens and fossil fuels begin to run out we must all take factors such as energy efficiency into consideration to significantly reduce our consumption of power which is likely to become more expensive in the future.
